Default American Idol

It's season 7, right?

Anyway, this kid David Archulleta just did an amazing performance of John Lennon to end the show.

There are some definite studs this year, and a couple who do the guitar/vocal combo. I'm gonna try to pay attention this year.

David Archuleta is really the only guy that matters, far as I can tell.

Granted, I've only been watching since the Hollywood week, and only halfassed at that, but he's the only guy who hasn't given a terrible performance since I've been watching. And actually, tonight's was pretty great. In seven seasons of this crap, this is the first time I've found myself rooting for the young guy.

There is an absolute rubbish rip-off of this show on Bulgarian TV now called "Music Idol" that everyone loves. Last year it was Bulgarian Survivor, this year Music Idol.

Michael Johns wasn't good last night but his Bohemian Rhapsody was pretty much the balls.

He has done all classic rock so far which is awesome.

Michael Johns was terrible last night. Maybe he was sick or something because I can't figure out why a guy would choose a song that was clearly not in his range. He couldn't sing those high notes. Up to that point, he'd been pretty solid.

I think this is the first crop in a while that actually has some real pop stars in it. I could never get in to any of the past few seasons because none of those people could produce an album I'd even consider listening to.

Jordin Sparks? Taylor Hicks? Srsly?

Every once in a while someone gives a performance that makes me think I could be on this show. Tonight Amanda Overmyer was that person. I mean, I definitely could have sung that better, and I would say the same of about 50% of the people I know.

I listened to that kid sing his rendition of "Imagine" and I tried to do my best to un-hear it. I admire his voice, but he raped a fantastic and meaningful song.

Well, it might help that I don't really like that song.

The only reason I watch this show occasionally is for the occassional hot chick. That asian girl is tasty.

Actually, some pretty attractive girls this year from the little montage tonight.

David chose Another Day in Paradise.

Interesting choice.

Not a bad performance but I thought Simon brought up a good point about his choices.
