I really don't foresee there being an ace type pitcher available come trade deadline time. When's the last time an ace pitcher got traded at the deadline? Randy Johnson to Houston?

Forget about an ace for this season. I'm talking about the offseason and beyond. If we're going to avoid locking up Uggla long term, an ace or a #2 should be our priority.

Cleveland is 4.5 out in the fist week of June, hardly definitive at this point.

If you tell me I have the choice between Pena and Rabelo, I probably take Pena.
But for us it'd be replacing, for lack of better words, trash for trash in a posistion that barely plays. How many teams have shitty back up catchers? It really doesn't upgrade the team at all. We need a starting catcher, and Matt move back to being a backup. That is what would improve the team.

It's not the big reach you seem to think it is. Once Carmona is back they have a surplus of starting pitching, he's not re-signing, and their offense has been awful.
They could deal him and improve their team in the right deal. |

Westrbook just went on the DL.
A surplus of pitching is a big misnomer when a team has 40% of their ideal rotation on the DL at the same time. Tom Mastny is a career reliever, Cliff Lee is slowly but surely coming back to Earth and Paul Byrd is 37. I don't really feel they have a strong enough rotation to deal a guy who is healthy and very proven. I know Asdrubal Cabrera has been sucking this year but are they that quick to give up on him?

If Cliff Lee comes back to Earth, Westbrook stays hurt and Carmona doesn't came back right, they're not winning a damn thing anyway, so why keep him?
They're hitting .236 as a team. |

Extreme response to what I obviously wasn't inferring.
The AL Central is very bad.

How is his game calling? Everything else looks pretty good I have to say.

Yeah, and since 2003,
A 4.11 ERA in 6 starts, and if you get rid of that error reversal after 2 months, Maddux's ERA is 5.65, to go with a 2-3 record. Last edited by Swift; June 4th, 2008 at 12:57 AM.. |

Yeah, but he wouldn't be facing our offense anymore. *grasping...*
But really, 6 starts is a pretty small sample size. Especially randomly spread out over 5 years No idea. |
