Default Dan Lebatard's Awkward/Jackass Interview With Michael Phelps

This tops the list of most awkward sports interviews ever.

http://www.790theticket.com/audio/16...%209-25-08.mp3

Make sure you hear it all including when Phelps hangs up on him only the fact that he has not hung up and we can hear his dislike of LeBatard.

I knew where this was going from the minute he answered the first question. For anyone who listens to LeBatard regularly it should've been obvious that he would not be happy.

He's very much against the pre-packaged athletes who try to say everything right and are not sincere. For him, those people are incredibly boring interviews especially if they're simply trying to promote something. (FWIW LeBatard refuses to do any commercials for his show or reference any of his show's sponsors in any way but mockingly) Can't say I totally disagree with him on this though, Phelps' answers were painfully boring and scripted.

I thought Phelps came off as stiff and more like a jackass to be honest. I hate when athletes and stars just say the same boring shit in interviews. Might as well not do them, or have an agent do them for you.

The reason they do interviews is to plug their stuff, obviously in this case it was for the chairty, in return for the station getting a rating's boost.

Lebatard was asking a national hero (yes) inane bullshit just to get a rise/reaction. Guess he got it.

I respect Phelps for what he did. I like him a whole lot.

But he's no hero. I know heroes. Real ones. Or at least knew them before they died. Cops, Firefighters and Airmen.

I'll pass on the argument/discussion on what a hero is. I'll define what I consider a hero myself for myself.

Will you also define what a hero is for the rest of the country?

This is nothing but par for the course for LeBaterd. My favorite awkward weird interview is when he interviewed Larry Czonka. You could tell if Czonka was next to LeBaterd he would have literally kicked his ass.

If you listen to the Dan LeBatard show frequently, this came as no surprise.

You have to be fucking kidding me.

Exhibit A why I hate you.

I clearly made my post to show that it was personal opinion and to avoid a pointless conflict and like a child you ripped off the scab for the heck of it.

Finally got to listen to this.

I don't blame LeBatard for being a jackass. What an awful interview from Phelps. He brought nothing.
