Why they allowed Australia to qualify in the Asian group is beyond me.

Oceania? Australia is traditionally grouped with Oceania in many other aspects.

Maybe they think they are too strong for Oceania?

The only thing I don't like about the World Cup is that it's only every 4 years.

Seriously though, I've been toying with the idea of going to South Africa in 2010. I used to date a chick from Cape Town (she's was white Count, like you) and she always spoke very highly of it.

If it was coming to the States in 2014 I would wait but it's not gonna happen.

It's really going to depend on my 2 buddies and if the 3 of us can all get off of work at the same time.

Nice post Juanky.

I never liked Israel qualifying in UEFA either, though I can see the need for that one for safety.

What's strange for Australia is that while Asia has more bids, you would think it'd be easier for them to qualify in Oceania. How did that decision get made?

They used to play the 5th seed from South America so it was always tough for them to qualify even after dominating Oceania...but that changed so I don't understand the move.

I'm sure they want tougher competition to get better, but then they could schedule friendlies.

Yup, I think Israel would get into the World Cup far more often if they were in the AFC

New Zealand won today 3-1 over New Caledonia, officially winning Oceania.

They still have not qualified officially, as they now will have to battle the fifth place team in Asia for the spot.
