Eulogio De La Cruz Up, In The Pen

The Marlins are expected to recall right-hander Eulogio De La Cruz from Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday afternoon.

According to an industry source, the hard-throwing De La Cruz will be filling the roster spot of reliever Matt Lindstrom, who was optioned to Albuquerque on Tuesday night.

De La Cruz is one of the players Florida obtained from the Tigers as part of the Miguel Cabrera-Dontrelle Willis trade in December.

In 14 starts with Albuquerque, De La Cruz is 9-3 with a 4.12 ERA. He's struck out 67 in 78 2/3 innings.

This will be De La Cruz's second stint with the Marlins. He made a start on May 25, in the second game of a doubleheader against the Giants. The twin bill was scheduled because of a rainout on May 24, and De La Cruz was brought up as an emergency starter.

In three innings that day, he gave up two runs, walked four and struck out one.

De La Cruz threw six innings on June 21, and what role he will take on with the Marlins has not yet been announced.

Let him take Pinto's role, let Pinto go back to the 6th/7th inning that worked for him earlier and let's hope Gregg hits his head enough to be able to see straight.

Another lefty is needed in the pen. I would love to see Eulogio start and move Hendrickson to the pen.

I guess there was a day off or something but anyways tomorrow would be the 5th day since he last started. That's the usual rest between starts so we'll see.

we needed to do something with the pen, and he didnt exactly suck the first time he was up. hes a better choice over tank

I do hope Tank is up soon though, he's doing a nice job in the PCL (12 K's in 10 innings to go along with 2 walks).
