Willingham Visits Back Specialist
  Josh Willingham has been on the disabled list since April 28 Seeking another opinion on his strained lower back, outfielder Josh Willingham was examined by a specialist on Monday in Los Angeles. The Marlins left fielder underwent an MRI and several tests at the offices of Dr. Robert Watkins, an orthopedic surgeon at the Marina Spine Center. On the disabled list retroactive to April 28, Willingham has a herniated disk and likely will be out anywhere from another 10 days to three weeks. Willingham was troubled by the herniated disk dating back to September of last season. Willingham referred to Watkins as the "Dr. Andrews of back injuries." Dr. James Andrews is an orthopedic surgeon based in Birmingham, Ala., who frequently treats players for arm and shoulder injuries. Watkins has recommended a series of tests for Willingham. When the outfielder's back reaches "level five" in the drills, he will be cleared to resume baseball-related activities. "That could be two weeks, three weeks or 10 days," said Willingham. Willingham, the Marlins' cleanup hitter, has appeared in 25 games and he went on the DL with a .341 batting average, six home runs and 16 RBIs. Source
