![]() ![]() Jacque Jones is close to becoming a Marlin. Negotiations between the Marlins and Jones' agent, Damon Lapa, are in "advanced discussions." Released recently by the Tigers, Jones would provide the Marlins with a veteran outfielder, who can factor into the center-field mix. Jones also has experience leading off. Jones played in 24 games with the Tigers this season before the left-handed hitter was designated for assignment on May 5. He was released on May 13. A career .278 hitter, Jones has appeared in 1,284 games and he has 165 homers and 1,268 hits. Source |

With Hammer out probably at least another few weeks, if not more, this wouldnt be so bad. Ramp gon be sad for Carroll though. He is kinda wasting away on the bench.

I'd rather Brett tear up Albuquerque then for him to be just growing a goatee on the bench

Please don't bat him lead-off.

I have a feeling they will. Normally I would say that is ridiculously stupid but on this team, it is no less stupid than batting Cody lead-off, I suppose. I also do not like the thought of him patrolling CF in Dolphin Stadium. At least, Alfredo can make some above average plays out there to help our pitchers (who desperately need the help out there)... it's just too bad he is not hitting at all.

He's a career .340 OBP against RHP, which is considerably higher than his career .327 OBP. And since I'm sure Cody will be starting against LHP
It's not THAT bad. He's certainly more of a SLG guy, but with this lineup, are best leadoff options are probably Treanor or Hermida, and they have a lesser chance of leading off than I do.

He was meh. He can make a few decent plays, but there were also a lot of adventures with him out there and some of his throws are just horrid. A lot of fans and sports talk guys weren't too enamored with his defense. Plus, a CFer has to cover more ground in Dolphin Stadium than in Wrigley (though in Wrigley you have to deal more with the wind and the brick outfield wall).
