![]() ![]() The Florida Marlins activated outfielder Jeremy Hermida off the 15-day disabled list after their 10-7 victory over the Washington Nationals on Monday night. Hermida has been sidelined by a strained left hamstring. "He's healthy, he's good to go, so he'll be in the lineup'' Wednesday, when the Marlins-Nationals series resumes after a day off, Florida manager Fredi Gonzalez said. The Marlins optioned outfielder Brett Carroll to Triple-A Albuquerque. Before the game, Florida purchased the contract of right-hander Burke Badenhop from Double-A Carolina. Badenhop, who never has pitched in the majors, is in the bullpen for now but probably will move into the Marlins' starting rotation. "We'd like to get him an inning or two, get his feet wet, before we throw him in his first major league start,'' Gonzalez said. Badenhop replaced Rick VandenHurk on Florida's roster. VandenHurk was optioned to Carolina on Sunday after he went only 2 1-3 innings in a loss to Pittsburgh. In two starts this season, VandenHurk is 0-1 with an 11.81 ERA over 5 1-3 innings. Also Monday, Florida moved right-hander Harvey Garcia to the 60-day disabled list. He went on the 15-day DL last month, retroactive to March 21. AP |

Why not? VandenHurk did and he was giving up less runs in his appearances than Miller.
The next time Miller would start is in Houston and that does not bode well for a guy having control issues to pitch in such a hitters park with the short porch in left against a predominantly right-handed hitting lineup. That will do nothing for his confidence. |

I understand the trade justification thing but I don't think it's working very well. It would be one thing if Miller had gone all Francisco Liriano on us and was making a charge for the Cy Young award but he is pitching so terribly that it is making no one forget about the trade. In fact, it's just the opposite. He's making it look like the Marlins traded away Willis and Cabrera and got nothing for it since, until two days ago when Badenhop was called up, Miller was the only player of the six we got back actually in the majors and active and he keeps getting shelled in each outing. Let Badenhop be the representive and send Miller down. Last edited by mbaamin08; April 8th, 2008 at 01:55 PM.. |
