Default Seesaw Season Continues for Fish With Bounce Back Over Atlanta, 5-3

Hanley Ramirez connected on his 29th home run of the season in front of a sparse home crowd

Hanley Ramirez homered and doubled to lead the Florida Marlins past the Atlanta Braves 5-3 on Wednesday in front of an incredibly sparse crowd of just 600 fans.

Jeremy Hermida added two hits and an RBI, and three Marlins relievers kept the Braves scoreless over the final three innings to preserve the win. Florida reliever Doug Waechter (4-2) allowed one walk in one inning for his first win since July 25, and Joe Nelson pitched a perfect ninth for his first save of the season.

Fewer than 600 people were in Dolphin Stadium's bright orange and aqua seats for the first pitch, leaving most of them to reflect the afternoon sun. The ballpark was so quiet that home-plate chatter could be heard.

ESPN says there were less than 600 fans there. What the fuck?

I didn't realize there was a game this afternoon, and apparently neither did anyone else

I don't get why they schedule day games in markets that struggle with attendance as is. I understand the need for travel and such but they should at least keep them to a minimum.

Mid-week game between teams out of the race right after school started. I think 600 is pretty impressive.

Hey we can count on the pithy remarks from the Karl Ravech's of the world in about 8 minutes. Yaaaaaaaaaaay!

I'd like for these m00ks to come down and attend one of these day games.

Dolphins open on Sunday, and it's their place.

I know, but if they can get us out of there Wednesday afternoon, it sure beats Wednesday night.

I didn't know we played a day game today until I opened this thread.

I think a lot of people forgot. There still wasn't a game thread 10 minutes before gametime so I made one very quickly.

''I was way off,'' Marlins reliever Joe Nelson joked. ''I had predicted 418.''
