Post Game Big 7th Inning for Cubs Sinks Marlins in Series Finale, 8-2

Pinto gave up 5 of the Cubs' 8 runs in the 7th inning

There was a point this season when Renyel Pinto was the Marlins' most reliable reliever in the bullpen.

Over the last few weeks, that has drastically changed.

Since July 29, Pinto has struggled mightily, and on Sunday, those struggles pinnacled when he was charged with five earned runs in an eight-run seventh inning that led the Marlins to a 9-2 loss to the Cubs in front of 19,085 at Dolphin Stadium.

With the loss, the Marlins dropped two of three in their home series and went 5-8 in a 13-game stretch that saw them play the Phillies, Mets, Cardinals and Cubs. In three of their last four losses, a Marlins reliever has been charged with the loss, with two of them belonging to Pinto. Over his last 4 1/3 innings, the 26-year-old left-hander has given up 13 runs.

After throwing six shutout innings, Marlins starter Chris Volstad started the seventh by giving up a double and a single. That's when Pinto came into the game and gave up a two-run double to Alfonso Soriano and, three batters later, another two-run double to Aramis Ramirez to give the Cubs their first lead of the game. After that, Kosuke Fukudome hit a sacrifice fly to center field and Reed Johnson hit a three-run double to the left-center field gap -- off Logan Kensing -- to open up the flood gates.

Through the first three innings, Volstad tossed 63 pitches and put six runners on base but didn't surrender a run. Cubs starter Ryan Dempster, on the other hand, gave up just two hits and threw 38 pitches, but Florida was able to take a 1-0 lead off him in the third. After Cody Ross -- who got the decisive RBI on Saturday -- tripled off the left-field wall to start the inning, John Baker grounded out to the right side to bring the center fielder in and put the Marlins on the board.

The Marlins picked up another run off Dempster -- an All-Star with the Marlins in 2000 -- thanks to an RBI double by Luis Gonzalez.

Where are all those Pinto supporters now? Giving me negative reputation points.... Who gives a shit. Pinto sucks and if you're a pinto supporter you blow just as much. All of you have been ragging on about pinto being this great guy to have in the pen... The 3rd best arm in the pen.... Fuck you! If it wasn't for pintos sorry ass outings this season we would be 3 up in the division instead of 3 down. He's been the deciding factor in all those close games. All of you have been posting about his ERA of last year or some dumb fucking shit like that. Who really gives a fuck? That was then. This is now.... Right now he can't throw strikes.... Right now he's costing us any chance of seeing the post season. Take Willis for example. I don't. Because that was then and this is now. If I was Chris Volstad I would've waited for pinto to come in to the dugout and beat his fucking ass all over the place. Youch. What a painful week of baseball. Wish all this crapola happened this week on the West Coast when I was sleeping.

Nothing stings more than seeing your season end when you're sitting in your home stadium with 25,000 obnoxious Cubs fans.

Not mad at the Marlins at all. They played over their heads for 4.5 months, somehow, and really made for a fun summer. Hope they don't drastically sink into oblivion but I'm not going to throw all my hope and optimism out the window.

Jesus you're dumb, at no point did I even say anything that would make it appear Im a Pinto fan. Im a fucking Marlins fan.
