On this note, why are we letting de la Cruz go in in long relief? I'd rather send Miller out there. De la Cruz got torched but the heart of the Phillies lineup.

Also, WOOO CODY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

seriously why use a guy who throws high 90's if he only goes one inning, in long relief where he has struggled?

Update on Volstad.

Volstad exits with bruised right leg

The Marlins took no chances with one of their prized young pitchers.
After being struck on the lower right leg by a comeback shot off the bat of Carlos Ruiz in the third inning Tuesday, Chris Volstad was removed from the game a half inning later with a contusion.

The 21-year-old Volstad, making his 11th start and his 12th appearance, was a first-round Draft pick in 2005.

Leading off the third, Ruiz ripped a shot that deflected off the lower part of Volstad 's right leg. Ruiz reached on a single. Immediately, assistant trainer Mike Kozak and manager Fredi Gonzalez went to the mound.

Volstad threw three warmup pitches to test the leg, and he finished off the inning. But he was replaced by Eulogio De La Cruz in the fourth.

The three-inning outing is the shortest start of Volstad 's career. The 6-foot-7 right-hander hadn't gone less than five innings before Tuesday.

Volstad is 4-3 with a 3.31 ERA on the season. He's thrown 65 1/3 innings, and he is in line to pitch on Tuesday against the Astros at Dolphin Stadium.

Unfuckingbelievable...so much for a "big" lead. We'll be lucky to hold this lead at this rate.

And now we're going to Miller? If we lose this, I'm putting a lot of the blame on Fredi for using the wrong long reliever.

I'm going to be really disappointed if Fredi doesn't use Rhodes in the 9th.
