Commited to Kentucky.

Solid prep basketball player as well.

Brother was dual sport athlete as well out of high school with several offers but chose baseball and is in the Brewers organization.

Good pick but....

Fayette Daily News:

Blake Brewer is busy on the basketball courts right now, but not too busy to take care of his future.

Brewer, the Sandy Creek senior, has verbally committed to play baseball at the University of Kentucky next year, according to his father, Bill Brewer.

Blake is expected to pitch for the Wildcats in his college career.

As a pitcher last year at Sandy Creek, Brewer had 40 strikeouts in 27 innings pitched.

Blake’s brother Brent had many football and baseball offers out of high school, but was drafted by the Brewers and is in his second year in the organization.

“We are all excited for Blake,” said Sandy Creek Coach Eddy Householder.

Blake will officially sign in April.
Lets hope he signs

Our FO isn't stupid, I'm sure they talked to these guys beforehand and made sure they would sign, like they did with Brandon Hand.

Basically every high school player in the country is committed somewhere.

Anyway, state of Georgia talent was so deep that this kid didn't get a report.

If we can sign two of Brewer, Peterson, and Galloway this draft will end up awesome

Most of the area scouts know how much $$$ it would take to get a kid out of a committment. Speaking from experience, and I don't know about all the scouts, but our price was determined 2 days before the draft ever happened. My guess is the Marlins know the $$$ figure it will take on these guys - unless they get greedy. (It happens.)

Realize, if the kid(s) get over "slot" money, they won't be signing until Aug 15 (as per the Commissioner's office.) The deal might already be in place but they will have to wait until Aug 15 & they won't be on the field until after that Aug 15 date.

Blake Brewer has a decision to make.

The University of Kentucky or the Florida Marlins...

Brewer, a 2008 graduate of Sandy Creek High School, was the 328th pick overall in last week’s Major League Baseball draft by the Florida Marlins.

Brewer, a right-hander pitcher with a blazing fastball, has already signed a baseball scholarship with the University of Kentucky.

“Now we have a decision to make, said Bill Brewer, Blake’s father.

We are still negotiating with the Marlins, but right now, it looks like Blake is probably headed for Kentucky.

Brewer said the family will meet with the Marlins again this week.

“We’ll see after that meeting.”

If Blake signs with Florida, he will report to a mini-season camp in July.

Blake was a first team pitcher on The Fayette Daily News and Today in Peachtree City 2008 All-County Baseball Team.

Blake’s brother Brent, is currently playing in the Class High A league in Brevard County, Fla. with the Milwaukee Brewers.

Brent was also selected right out of high school -- and turned down a football scholarship with Florida State.

Blake Nation, a Starr's Mill graduate and current relief pitcher for Georgia Southern University, was selected by the Seattle Mariners with the 672nd pick overall
Lets cross our fingers......

I wouldn't be too bummed about not signing a guy that BA has no report on

We should know this week. He gave them a deadline of July 15th, which is tomorrow.
